SHINY HAPPY PEOPLE

J'adore bijoux! I love, love, love it. Bedecked, bedazzled and bewildered by metals, gems and stones, I worship at the altar of accessories. It's no surprise to those that know me, as I regularly  turn up to Sixth Form looking more like a jewellery stand than a student. But hey, jewellery is for wearing, right?!

So imagine my delight when I recieved a (belated) Christmas present from a friend of mine today, the gorgeous leopard clasp bracelet you can see in the top image. It's a quirky piece, with inky black stones and twinkling diamante set in antique-feel silver metal. Animal jewellery is always favourable in my eyes, allowing us to convey the same strength, grace and power as the beings we are wearing. Who wouldn't want to be a lioness, given the chance?! Of course, the little creatures are just as desirable. Fish are fantastic as brooches, while birds and butterflies look terrific dangling from your earlobes. I'm a huge believer in independent style, animal jewellery adds just the right amount of interest to an outfit. 

Of course, stunning classic pieces are no less captivating than their figuratively formed counterparts. The second image posted above shows my favourite piece of the minute: a delicate pair of drop earrings given to me by my mother just yesterday.  I've always loved diamonds and pearls, whether real or costume, and they work a treat together. I can't wait to wear them out. Vintage jewellery has a quality that the high street struggles to provide, with classic, sweet designs. Sofia Coppola's 2006 film Marie Antoinette, starring Kirsten Dunst, is a delight if you're into vintage jewels! But mostly, I'm a sucker for a story. My mother wore these on her wedding day; a special occasion in anyone's books. I love the idea that these pieces had a life before me, and I'm priveliged to be the next person to take them on their journey. Who knows where they'll be in another sixty years time? 

I have heaps of jewellery, and soon I'll do post on my favourite pieces. I'd love to hear what jewellery means to you and about your personal accessorising style! But for now, revision beckons! HAPPY NEW YEAR FASHIONISTAS!

It's officially 2010, a new year and a new decade! I would like to take this chance to wish all of you a wonderful new year; let's hope it's better than the last. I'm also hoping that 2010 started as we mean to go on! It was a night with the best friends for me, with more eyeliner than I've worn for a long time and a vividly hued Christopher Kane for Topshop dress. I paired it with gold platforms after doing some research on Kane's iconic S/S 07 show. What do we think?  

As many of us will have done as the clock struck twelve, new years resolutions are entertained as we thought of fitter bodies, kinder words and more money in the bank. I chose, as usual, to get fit, work hard and expand my wardrobe with smart buys. But what have you guys decided to change in your lives? I'd love to hear.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

It's a day we've been longing for, Britain is finally experiencing a white Christmas! I took some time out yesterday to enjoy the snow with my best friend, as you can see above. I hope you all appreciated this change in weather over the last week!   

I would like to take this time to wish everyone a very, very, very merry Christmas! This is a time for celebration and sparkle, so lets pull on those sequins and party like us Brits know we can. Merry Christmas once again, enjoy your day fashion fans!

CUPCAKE COPY CATS

I was literally left speechless when I found out that Luella was to cease trading last month; one of the most quirky, creative and quintessentially British designers of our time (and of course, a personal favourite!) . Her designs touch on that saccharin sweetness many women covet, whilst managing to retain a rebellious, punk spirit that keeps the clothes stylish. If it wasn't for the price tag, I would be a Luella lady head to toe! 

The close of the label means we will not be seeing those heart cut-out chests, that polkadot tailoring or those candy-floss cuts on the red carpet any time soon, but what about on a street near you? New Look have just shown their S/S 10 collection to fashion insiders, and ladies lets be honest: Luella is back from the grave. Check out The Flying Saucer, the latest post on which is direct from New Look HQ in Paris. The 'Cupcake' collection is a direct translation of Luella's latest show from the catwalk to the city streets, making use of pastel colours, polkadots and heart shaped cut-outs. I know I'm excited! 

I might give the January sales a miss this year bloggers, I've got a sweet tooth that only the 'Cupcake' collection can satisfy...

For those of you who keep your ears to the ground, the sound of stilettos will no doubt have been eclipsed by the news of a collaboration between Christian Louboutin and, the one and only, Barbie! Revealed in around September this year, fashionistas have suddenly given up their wicked ways in the hopes of being on Santa's good list. The £100 doll is now sold out on net-a-porter.com, begging the question...who says we're too old for toys?!
